The Story Behind Simmplyfit
From the Panhandle to the Peaks
My journey with movement didn’t begin in a Pilates studio—it started on a family farm in the Texas Panhandle. As a farmer’s daughter, I was driving a tractor as soon as my legs were long enough to reach the pedals. That "Simms" family grit and a hands-on, small-town upbringing instilled in me a lifelong respect for what the human body is capable of when it's treated with care and consistency.
While my roots run deep in the Texas soil, I eventually traded the wide-open skies of the Texas Panhandle for the rugged beauty of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Whether I’m navigating a tractor or a ski slope, I’ve always believed that movement should support the life you love to live.
A Career Rooted in Science
I’ve always been fascinated by how the body moves and heals. With a lifelong love of biology and anatomy, I earned my B.S. in Kinesiology with a minor in Nutrition from TCU. For over 30 years, I have immersed myself in the world of exercise physiology, nutrition, and wellness, helping clients forge the link between rehabilitation and high performance.
But my expertise isn't just academic—it's personal. I thought I knew everything the body could do. Then, life challenged me.
Resilience & The Pivot to Pilates
Fifteen years ago, my path took an unexpected turn as I navigated a long road to recovery from Lyme Disease and various injuries. These challenges changed everything. I realized that the "no pain, no gain" mentality wasn't sustainable; I needed a way to move that was safe, restorative, and deeply intentional.
Through these experiences, I had to relearn what it meant to be "fit." I discovered that true strength isn't about pushing to the point of exhaustion; it’s about sustainability.
That’s when I found Pilates
It became the link between healing and strength— a practice that allowed me to bridge the gap between rehabilitation and high performance.. It became my ultimate tool for rehabilitation and balance.
At 50, I decided to take my expertise to the next level, returning to school for my comprehensive Pilates certification, proving that the most rewarding chapters often begin when we’re willing to start fresh. This chapter has proved to me—and to my clients—that our bodies are capable of incredible adaptation and growth at any age.
My Philosophy: Simmple. Sustainable. Strong.
Today, as an exercise physiologist and a mom of two teen athletes, I see the importance of functional movement every day.
Whether I’m helping a client recover from an injury, training an athlete for peak performance, or guiding someone through a changing body, my goal is the same:
To help you move better, feel stronger, and live pain-free.
I believe in body-neutral, enthusiastic, and safe instruction. I meet you where you are today, so you can keep doing what you love tomorrow.
Outside the Studio
I still keep a little country in me. You’ll find me on the slopes, hiking the local trails, or spending time with my husband and sons recharging in my happy place.. And yes, the cowboy hat still makes an appearance. I bring that same grounded, "real-life" energy to every session I teach.
My mission remains the same: helping you move with confidence, live pain-free, and build a body that supports the life you love.
